Ballywire Media are digital content specialists, their unique and syndicated video news is delivered daily to Ireland’s leading web destinations. Having recently undergone a rebranding exercise, the company specifically sought a freelance graphic designer to “pick up the baton” and take the new look Ballywire forward.
Having successfully offered three different design concepts, my ‘grunge’ style was enthusiastically selected as “the way to go!”
With Ballywire being at the forefront of Ireland’s digital media provision service, their corporate style will develop and embrace the vibrancy of the social media community, continually evolving to stay ahead of the crowd.
As a designer, it’s great to have such an exciting and open creative brief. Love it :))
www.ballywire.ie
This is an advertisement I produced for the first issue of Coast & Country Magazine. Now, I can’t claim it to be “my” design work as I have only put the artwork together to specific guidelines. I just wanted to acknowledge here the importance of creating design guidelines for other designers to follow. Along with the required copy and images from the client came a website link to corporate guidelines created by Wowme! Design in the UK.
Following the excellent guidelines and using the attached graphic files, I was quickly able to create an advertisement that not only was 100% true to their corporate style, but looked fantastic in the magazine too :))
Client Esat
Description Bus Shelter and DART Campaign
Year 1999
As part of the proposed campaign to announce Esat’s Enhanced Directory, posters were required to push the service into the public eye. Here were two examples I created for bus shelters and DART. My concept revolved around having a catchy/memorable tagline, so I came up with “1-1-8-8-0 All you need to know” which worked in two ways, one, it affirmed the idea that you need to remember that number and, two, that once you rang the number, you’d have access to all you needed to know.
The DART poster concept graphically showed your route and stop off points in getting from the Question to the Answer.
Well… I thought it was clever anyway… :))
Client Skibbereen Tool Hire
Description Newspaper Advertising
Year 2004 – present
My Work Concept, Design, Artwork, Advertisement Copy
When first taking on this project, my initial thoughts and concepts lead to playing with double entendres and a laddish sense of humour. Thankfully the client warmed to the idea immediately and the boundaries of taste have been pushed ever since… much to the disdain of the client’s mother! :))
Client Punch
Description Brand Relaunch Advertising
Year 2006
My Work Design, Artwork
As with many products, they are often launched without the physical items available to photograph. In this instance, I was asked to create all products in the new Punch range and then incorporate these computer generated images into all of their advertising.
